The device is easy to use. When your period begins, simply push the "M" button on the monitor. Now it will tell you every morning:

• A green light means you need not use contraception.
• A red light indicates a probable fertile day. Then you should either refrain from intercourse, or use a mechanical contraceptive, e.g. diaphragm or condom.
• A yellow light means PERSONA needs more information and is waiting for a test-stick dampened with a morning-urine sample. The yellow test light illuminates in the first cycle on 16 days, in subsequent cycles on eight days. When PERSONA has become familiar with your monthly cycle, it will show around 6 to 10 "red days" per cycle.
