Guitar Tuning I: The own PC as a Guitar Tuner!

The correct tuning of the guitar is very difficult for beginners . Christian Drohm wrote a Java program for us, with which it is possible to tune the guitar with the help of your computer. You must have installed a sound card connected with a microphone. You have also to install the Java Runtime Engine 1.3 or higher before. All further instructions ware explained on Christian Drohms web site. This program offers correct tuning control to you and indicates on your screen, when the strings have the correct pitch or frequency: (Click picture!)

The best helf for you by guitar tuning is a well-trained friend who ist able to tune the guitar once in the week. She or he can show you how to tune the guitar strings by turning the tuners at the head. Fresh nylon strings need one week, until they have reached a constant pitch after tuning.

Left-handed people must make certain that the strings in their order are exactly mirror-wise drawn up: thus if they put the guitar on the lap, the head with the tuners shows to the right, then the sequence from above must be downward (!): deep E-string, A, D, G, B, E.
